Why I love my job
In the past I have worked as a live-in nanny, special needs respite care providor, Autism Instructor, youth theatre director, and a Shakespeare teacher for a Gifted & Talented program. Currently, in addition to serving as Go Au Pair’s LAR for NYC, I am a writer of novels for children and a copyeditor for Nanny Magazine. Through the latter I have interviewed some of my favorite authors and actors, including Ann M Martin (Babysitters Club – book series), Fran Drescher (The Nanny – tv show), and the writers of The Nanny Diaries (book/film).
Once per week, I volunteer as a 1:1 aide at Brooklyn Autism Center’s after-school social program, helping kids on the Spectrum and their neurotypical peers communicate with each other despite various barriers and develop lasting friendships.
I am excited to work with Go Au Pair, especially planning bi-monthly outings for Au Pairs and helping Au Pairs and families have the best possible experience.
Hello! I’m Nicole. I live in Brooklyn, almost directly across the river from One World Trade Center. I have been here for over five years and can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Even though I love NY, I try to travel as much as possible. In the last few years I’ve been lucky enough to visit more than 25 US states, including Alaska and Hawaii, plus have been to France (Paris, Normandy, Disneyland), Spain (Barcelona), Italy (Rome, Anzio, Nettuno), Vatican City, the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana), and the Bahamas (Nassau), among others. I am hoping to add Greece (to see where my family is from) and Japan (to see where my father was born) to my list soon.
When not working, traveling, or staring at the NYC skyline, I can usually be found reading, writing, swimming, at the theatre, or catering to my spoiled cats, Shakespeare and Poe.
I don’t have any kids of my own, but I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my godchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews, who range in age from four months to seventeen years.
