Tessa Dean

About me

I live in Lakeville, Minnesota with my husband of 13 years and my 3 boys: Camden (12), Gaven (9) & Griffen (6). We are an extremely sports orientated family and live at the hockey rink, football field and baseball diamond. In my free time I enjoy going to the gym, reading and volunteering in my children’s schools.

My favorite thing about being a LAR

I am passionate about child care & finding what works best for families. I have experienced first hand with my own children the shortcomings of child care centers, home day cares & nannies and I truly believe in the au pair program & what they can offer families. This is truly a rewarding job & I enjoy working very closely with all my families to help support them during their au pair year.

Why I love my job

I graduated with a BA in Accounting from the University of Minnesota – Duluth in 21. I worked for large companies such as Arthur Andersen, GE & HomeServices of America in accounting and finance type roles for 1+ years. I started with Go Au Pair in February of 2012 and have found it to be the perfect job/balance for my family. When I started in 2012, we had 3 families in our network. We have since grown to 4 families in the Twin Cities.

About me

I am from Chaska, MN and currently live in Uptown, Minneapolis. I am very interested in music/going to concerts, art, my local community, crafting, reading, psychology, and spending time outside. Fun fact about me: I have been an Au pair twice myself! I spent one year in the Netherlands 2012-2013, and six months in Beijing, China 2013-2014. Both were incredible experiences. I traveled, learned a lot about myself, was challenged, met a lot of amazing people, had new experiences, learned about other cultures, and so forth.

My favorite thing about being a LAR

As I mentioned above, I was an Au pair twice myself. It was an incredible experience for me and I am so excited to help facilitate that for other young women and their Minnesotan host families. I very much believe in the program! I do not have children yet, but I hope to host my own Au pair one day.

Why I love my job

I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2011. I am currently attending Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, earning my M.A. in Counseling and Psychological Services. I am striving to become an LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor). Since I am in grad school full-time, I dabble in a few different part-time jobs, depending on my schedule. Working as a LAR for Go Au Pair is my top priority – I love it! I also nanny for a preschooler a couple times a week, substitute teach kindergarten a couple times a month, and teach English to Chinese children online. I also volunteer for a Crisis and Suicide hotline once a week. As you can see, I love to work with others and help out in the community!
