Our Twins Are Happier “in the Comfort of Their Own Home”

We are nominating our Au Pair, Daniela, because she has done a terrific job taking care of our twins for the last seven months since they were seven months old. While we have three children, Daniela mainly takes care of our twins as our toddler is in daycare full time.

Daniela comes from a family of 5 children, and her being the second oldest, she has plenty of experience taking care of children. She brought that knowledge with her and put us at ease that our children were in good hands from the first time we spoke with her over Skype. She has a calm personality and doesn’t get flustered easily which is important when working with infants, especially two infants, who may both be crying at the same time or just simply both want to be held. She has helped our family tremendously since her arrival. She plays with our twins, cooks for them, takes them for walks, and cares about their health and well-being.

Daniela has become a part of our family and we are very thankful to her. Every morning when the twins wake up, Daniela helps to change them and get them ready for the day. She then takes care of them until we come home from work in the evening. When we leave for work we know our children are in good hands and we don’t need to worry about their safety and well-being.

Daniela is also good at maintaining their daily schedules and keeping them on track. Daniela also keeps track of the vitamins the twins need and gives them the vitamins when necessary. She is reliable and can be counted on to do everything necessary for the twins. Moreover, she is able to get them to eat, which isn’t easy if you’ve ever tried to feed an infant at their age, who just wants to play. Yet Daniela is able to accomplish this difficult task with two infants at the same time. She does this by making yummy food for the twins since she has learned what they like and don’t like to eat. She is creative with her recipes and how she feeds them. She has brought the knowledge and experience from her past experiences working with children to her current position with our family. And, last but not least, the twins love her, which is very critical.

Before Daniela arrived, our twins were in daycare. We wondered every day whether they were happy there and we worried about them getting sick. Daniela’s arrival allowed us to take the twins out of daycare and keep them in our home while we are away at work. Thanks to that, they’ve gotten sick less and are in the comfort of their own home during the day.

Daniela has adjusted to living in the United States very well. From the first day that she arrived, she picked up on how things work in the United States very quickly. She is a fast learner and is self- sufficient. She has a can-do attitude and doesn’t get overwhelmed easily. We know it’s not easy for her being in the United States since she has a very close-knit family back home, whom she misses a lot, but she is doing a great job of making the most of her time here. We appreciate everything that Daniela does for our family and are grateful that she has chosen us to be her host parents.
