Pamela Edwards

My favorite thing about being a LAR

I feel that each Au Pair and Host Family deserves a great experience, and am here for support during the program year.

Why I love my job

I have been supporting Host Families and Au Pairs for Go Au Pair for eight years, and love my role even more with each passing year. I am easy to talk and work with. I let my Host Families and Au Pairs find their groove, but can be hands-on when one party or both party needs me. I am a great listener, great communicator, and take my role seriously. I want all parties to have the best experience possible, and I am here to help any way I can when needed. With my Au Pairs, I like to foster engagement as a group regularly on Facebook and the Au Pairs know they can text or call me anytime. I listen to my group and try to plan cultural outings to their wishes. It is actually a lot of fun. I feel that keeping my Au Pairs engaged and feeling connected brings about a better experience for all. Au Pairs take their jobs very seriously, want to do well, and I am here for support anytime.

Deniese Garner

About me

My name is Deniese Garner and I am the Local Area Representative for the San Francisco East bay area. I have been working with Go Au Pair for more than twelve years and love what I do. Currently living in the East Bay Area, I am a music teacher during the week. I teach vocal music at a local elementary school in Walnut Creek, Ca. Married, I have a teenage son who keeps me quite busy the rest of the time. My hobbies include Tahitian dance and writing and I am a commercial model.

My favorite thing about being a LAR

Being a LAR has given me the opportunity to meet different people of all different walks of life from different backgrounds. Being a people person, it allows me to interact with families who are looking to be a positive example of our American culture. Over the years, our cluster has done a lot of fun things together such as wine tasting, a 5k run, karaoke and welcome parties.

Why I love my job

Working in partnership with Go Au Pair, I act as a liason for the agency and host families who have made the choice to enter the aupair program. Making contact with the host families and aupair monthly, I am the eyes and ears for Go Au Pair. I consider myself as the eyes and ears for the host parents and aupairs as well, guiding them through their aupair/host family experience while here in California. It is my goal to have a personal relationship with both the aupairs and host parents in my cluster so that we can feel comfortable working together and communicating any challenges that may arise.
