Dutch Au Pairs
|
The Netherlands is located in northwestern Europe. While the
Netherlands is a relatively small country it is one of
the
most densely populated countries in the world. Dutch Au
Pairs usually adjust well to life in the U.S. are generally
known for their flexibility and independence.
English is one of the main subjects taught to children at an
early age and is the second language for many Dutch people.
According to research approximately 85 percent of the
population is able to converse in English. In addition,
Dutch Au Pairs generally speak a third language, commonly
French or German.
The Au Pair program is very well known and common in the
Netherlands. While babysitting is one of the typical ways
Dutch Au Pairs gain childcare experience, internships at
daycares, nurseries and hospitals are also common.

What
do Host Parents say about their Au Pairs from the
Netherlands?
|
Becky is a first time Host Mom with goAUPAIR who welcomed
her Au Pair, Anja, from the Netherlands into her home
several months ago..
How well did your Au Pair assimilate into your home?
"Anja assimilated into our family so very easily. She
immediately became a part of our family. She really has
become another member of our family. The most important
piece was that she immediately assimilated into our
children's lives and she did."
What cultural differences did you encounter?
"We really had very few cultural differences. As many
know, most European countries are very similar in culture to
the U.S."
Would you ever choose another Au Pair from
the Netherlands?
"Oh absolutely! We would definitely choose another
Au Pair from the Netherlands. She has been great and we look
forward to spending the next months with her. Our children
absolutely love her!" |
