Colombian Au Pairs
|
It is common for Colombian Au Pairs to gain
child care
experience through daycare and nanny work. Many of our Au
Pairs from Colombia currently
in the U.S. had experience tutoring children as well prior
to their arrival.
Colombians are motivated to come to the U.S. as an
Au Pair
to improve their English skills, which will greatly improve
their employment options when they return to Colombia. While
English is studied in school in Colombia, Au Pairs who come
to the U.S. are immersed in the language and this exposure
is highly sought after.
Over 90 percent of our Au Pairs from Colombia already placed in the
U.S. had driving experience prior to their arrival.
Colombians drive on the right side of the road and are able
to receive their driver’s license when they are 16 years
old.

What
do Host Parents say about their Au Pairs from Colombia?
|
Joe, a Host Dad, has hosted numerous Au Pairs through
goAUPAIR. Yinna is his current Au Pair from Colombia and she
has been with his family for almost a year.
How well did your Au Pair assimilate into your home?
"She assimilated quite well. She has come from a strong
family unit and thus fit right in with ours."
What cultural differences did you encounter?
"Actually, very little. Culturally it is very similar to our
region of California; weather is not too different, food is
similar. Holiday's, activities, etc were some of the main
differences, but were easily overcome."
Would you ever choose another Au Pair from Colombia?
"Yes, as we are very happy with current Au Pair." |
