The areas I serve in NJ
I am the local area representative for Bergen County, NJ and part of the surrounding counties that touch Bergen. Northern NJ in general. I have many Au Pairs in the following towns: Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Fair Lawn, Oradell, Tenafly, Franklin Lakes, Mahwah, Ramsey
I have been a Local Area Representative since 1998! I had an Au Pair when my kids were little and really enjoyed the program. It’s like having a little sister in your house. I enjoy being an LAR and meeting Au Pairs from around the world and help guide them in their year in the USA.
I have a cluster that is about 15- 20 families all over Bergen County. Many are two income families who have busy lives and have 2 + children. Their schedules need another adult to help with childcare. The Au Pair’s countries I’ve met over the years have been varied. Right now I see a lot of Central & South American Au Pairs along with Chinese Au Pairs. I have met in the past, South Africans, European, Australian, New Zealand & Russian
Au Pair Cultural Activities
Au Pairs are required to attend a number of Cultural Activities with their Local Area Representative and nearby Au Pairs to make sure they experience the local community and culture during their stay. Below are some of the activities Patti’s cluster has been up to recently!
I take pride in my monthly gatherings. I try and do something fun that the Au Pairs will enjoy. I try to keep the cost down too. I usually do lunch at the Hoboken Art & Music Festival, A Broadway Show, Snow Tubing, Hikes, Governor’s Island and a Holiday brunch at my house.

The areas I serve in NJ
As a LAR for GAP, I oversee the south-central region of New Jersey. Majority of my AP cluster reside within Princeton, New Brunswick, and Belmar.
Au Pair Cultural Activities
I try my best to host cost effective cultural events fairly close to my AP’s so they do not have to travel far. This Summer we went to Open Mic in Princeton. We had a great time eating ice cream and getting to know each other.
On October 7th we were scheduled for pumpkin picking my AP’s were so excited as they have never been. Unfortunately, the weather did not permit, we met at Panra Bread instead and brainstormed for upcoming inside cultural events. This way the weather will no longer be an issue.

About me
My name is Anna Taylor, and I’m a Local Area Representative (LAR) at Go Au Pair in Sparta, New Jersey. I have about 20 years of experience in college education, mainly in the area of ESL (English as a Second Language). Through my work, I got to meet lots of Au Pairs who wanted to learn English and I have always been impressed by how smart, dedicated and curious they are. I have been a LAR since August 2021 and I am excited to be a part of the Go Au Pair team.

Child Friendly Activities for Au Pairs and Host Families
Au Pairs love to hear live music. In the summer I always do a family gathering at one of the those free outdoor concerts with dessert for my Au Pairs and Families. There are free outdoor concerts in a lot of the local towns and I will let them know what’s in the area. Also, my Au Pairs love to go into NYC for concerts, visit Time Square, Central Park, the Museums and visit one of the larger buildings with a view of the city. (There are a few!). There are many family friendly events: October festivals, Zoo’s in NYC, 6 flags amusement park & the Beach!
